Whether you have had many nannies or are starting your first search, it can be a daunting process. American Professional Nannies can help make the process much easier. We will be there to support you every step of the way. We offer full time and part-time nannies as well as live-in and live-out situations. We have the highest standards for the nannies we place.

We offer thoroughly screened and qualified care for your children. Our business is based on the principle that excellent child care can only be possible when a nanny and the family are well matched, where each understands the needs and responsibilities of the other and where there is mutual respect and agreement on the standards and values set for the children.

All our nannies are subject to an intensive screening process prior to beginning employment in your home. American Professional Nannies runs extensive background checks and speaks with numerous child care, business and personal references of each candidate. All nannies fill out a lengthy application, which includes questions about their experience, education, child care philosophy and family background.

At American Professional Nannies, we stand behind the quality of our nanny candidates. If your family is not satisfied with your nanny, simply call us within the 30 day guarantee period.  American Professional Nannies will send new nanny candidates for you to review until a replacement is found, at no additional charge.

The selection process begins when you contact us directly or fill out the online Family application and your application fee has been received.  Shortly thereafter we will call you to review your application and learn more about your family. We then match the qualities and experience you desire in an employee with one of the highly qualified candidates in our agency. We will only send a candidate for you to interview that we believe is compatible to your family’s needs and wants.

American Professional Nannies will not only save your family valuable time but we will  give you peace of mind.  We only represent the top candidates in the area.  Each nanny is professional, experienced, dedicated to the best care for your child. In order to be considered by our agency, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • High School diploma
  • One year or more experience in daycare, a year or more experience as a nanny (other than family), or working on a degree in a child-related field i.e. child development, teaching, child & family services etc.  
  • Willing to sign a contract for a minimum of one year. Exceptions: summer, vacation or temporary nannies.
  • U.S. citizenship. 
  • Possess a valid driver’s license and a reliable car. Clean driving records are preferred.
  • Proof of state-required insurance before starting position.
  • Be in good health.
  • Have three (3) childcare references that can be verified. These can include previous nanny experience, daycare experience, teaching experience, home childcare experiences, camp counselor or working in child care at a church.
  • Three (3) character references that can be verified. These cannot be best friends, boyfriends or relatives. We prefer co-workers, (current or past) previous teachers, family friends or people who have known you for a period of time.
  • Due to the growing concern of second-hand smoke and the increase in asthma and allergies in children, most families require non-smokers.

All nannies that are placed have driving records and child abuse records verified.
